What will you learn to BA: A Quick Tour on Units
Students must study the following eight core units:
- Business Research Methodology – Builds your understanding of business research and how it is conducted. This module introduces the key methods and techniques used in business research by critically examining the academic literature.
- Business Strategy – Enables you to develop a detailed knowledge and critical understanding of the role that strategic management plays within organizations and its effects upon organizational performance and survival. This module examines important techniques used to analyse the position of a company in both its actual and potential marketplace.
- International Marketing Strategy – Compares and contrasts export, international and multinational marketing and enables you to precisely differentiate between the marketing policies appropriate to industrialised, developing and underdeveloped economies. This module also aims to identify the sources of information, methods of information collection and the methods of information analysis suitable for international marketing planning.
- Business Analysis and Decision Making – Builds your understanding of the use of information and information systems for the support of commerce and use of these systems to aid decision-making. This module will develop your abilities in qualitative and quantitative analysis in business to provide you with critical diagnosis and decision-making skills.
- Strategic Operations and Quality Management – Examines the key issues of strategic operations management. Using important models and concepts, it provides an analysis of strategic operations management and how it relates to corporate strategy and quality management. This module will consider challenges and the elements required for successful strategic operations management and the strategies for achieving efficient, cost-effective production in a global business environment.
- Management and Organizational Behaviour – Examines how management, particularly in terms of organizational and staff development, can contribute to the achievement of a more effective organization. This module covers the analysis of effective management in organizations with emphasis on the functions of management and the behavioural processes of change, conflict, leadership, motivation, communication, innovation and group dynamics.
- Business-to-Business Marketing – Critically examines the scope and nature of business marketing, unique aspects of business marketing strategy development and issues that face business marketers. The module considers areas including developing customer relations, quality service marking and consumer and buyer behavior.
- Management Accounting and Finance – Aims to develop the key skills necessary for organizational financial management. The module provides an extensive base of knowledge and skills by examining planning and decision-making techniques.

What will you learn to BSC (BCIS): A Quick Tour on Units
Two units are studied in each semester, with the project being studied over two semesters. Students must study the following five core units:
- Advanced Database Management Systems – builds upon general understanding of database systems, ensuring that students develop significant knowledge of the major topics (both theoretical and practical) relating to the development and management of modern database systems. The unit introduces current database research topics, thereby increasing understanding of future trends and the latest developments in the field.
- Corporate Communication Systems Management – enables students to understand the management of telecommunications and computer networks for corporate systems and the underlying technologies, including network management, communications media and services, global availability and reliability, eCommerce and internet services.
- EBusiness – is concerned with the use of the Internet to conduct business electronically. The commercial application of the Internet has grown rapidly in recent years and the technological and business environment remains dynamic. This unit adopts a critical, strategic approach to business and to the use of the Internet.
- Managing Information Systems Projects – explores the theoretical underpinning of different approaches to project management, examines a range of techniques for tackling the problems of project management and develops a rigorous attitude to quality in software development.
- Information Systems Project – aims to provide the opportunity for in-depth individual study of a specialized area of computing and information systems; to develop the ability to tackle a selected problem of significant scale and complexity and to develop the ability to present ideas in written reports.
Course Feature
- Units comprise of weekly video lectures, tutorial exercises, a discussion forum and live chat sessions with subject experts.
- Opportunity to interact with other students from around the world and with subject experts through discussion forums.
- Part-time students are able to study one or two units per semester over two semesters, with the project being studied over those two semesters.
Progression and Careers Opportunities
The qualification allows students are eligible to apply for the Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Business IT (RQF) (L7DSBIT) awarded by NCC Education. On successful completion students can expect to obtain a management level position in the IT industry.
